    Police had suspect name, sexual assault kit but it took more than 10 years to test evidence /Link

    A 16-year-old girl reported an alleged sex assault at a hotel in Portland to Clark County Sheriff's Office the same day it occurred, identified her attacker and underwent a forensic exam at an area hospital in 2006. But her sexual assault kit sat in the Portland Police Bureau's evidence warehouse for more than 10 years, and Portland detectives didn't follow up on her complaint until a private lab tested the kit last year.
